New travel requirements will take effect in Europe starting from spring 2025. With this change, citizens of over 60 countries, including Georgia, will need ETIAS authorisation to enter Europe.
What is ETIAS and how does it work?
ETIAS, or the European Travel Information and Authorisation System, is designed to enhance the security of EU borders and make traveller screening more effective. The system allows relevant authorities to pre-analyse information about travellers, helping reduce security risks.

Foreign nationals who travel without a visa and plan short-term visits to Europe (up to 90 days within a 180-day period) will be required to obtain ETIAS.
Authorization can be obtained both through the official ETIAS website and by using the mobile application.
However, it should be noted that having ETIAS authorisation does not guarantee automatic entry. At the border, border guards will require your passport and ETIAS authorisation. If the data does not match or is inaccurate, entry may be denied. This highlights the importance of accuracy when completing the application. To avoid potential rejections or delays at the border, travellers can turn to eConsul, which is ready to assist and simplify the application process, ensuring that every detail is correctly filled out.
