America was always a priority for us. Former members of our team who are in opposition today will well remember my attitude. I hope and I am sure that at the same time as the end of the war, we will definitely be able to change extremely difficult and undesirable attitudes to a more positive one, - said the honorary chairman of "Georgian Dream", Bidzina Ivanishvili.
In an interview with "Imedi", he talked about restarting relations with international partners and noted that "the problem and cause of everything is the war. It strained all kinds of relationships and changed, sometimes even turned upside down, what we had."
Also, Bidzina Ivanishvili said that after the elections, a meeting will be held between her and the ambassador of the United States of America, Robin Dunnigan.
"We had no problems before the war. I think and hope that the war will end in a few months, maybe even at the end of this year. When we won the court in Singapore and "Credit Suisse" could no longer prevent it from being implemented, I immediately called the American ambassador the week before, we communicated and asked for a meeting and said that the reasons that were actually solved by themselves, therefore there is no longer a problem from me and I am ready to meet. The reaction from there was very healthy, there is a desire for it, and we are going to meet after the elections, we have already talked about it. I hope that not with one meeting and not immediately, but in time we will not stop trying, but there must be a mutual desire. I hope that we should consider everything in dynamics. The elections in America are also over, in Europe they are now over and are being sorted out, the bureaucracy has not been sorted out yet, hopefully, the end of the war will coincide and I think the situation after the end of the war will return to its original state", said the honorary chairman of the party.
As for when and on what the restart of the relationship will depend, Bidzina Ivanishvili noted that this requires a mutual attitude and Georgia alone cannot do it.
"Of course, there were all the problems, and from the day he came into politics, there was always a difference in interests, not a hundred percent agreement, but there was nothing like this and the public doesn't even remember, this tension came out and everyone can see it. America was always a priority for us. Even the former members of our team, who are in the opposition today, will remember my attitude well. I had a meeting with a business and they thought I had incredibly rigid attitudes, no, God forbid. We Georgians have a lot of genetic experience, we lived in a very difficult region and we know how to deal with power, but not in such a way that we destroy and disintegrate the country. We had attempts and I excelled at it, I will repeat it again, former members of the team can verify and remember it well, and I hope and I am sure that in parallel with the end of the war and in the process we will definitely manage to change extremely difficult and undesirable attitudes to more positive ones. But I repeat that we should not be euphoric, this requires a mutual attitude, Georgia alone cannot do this, and at the same time, our dream and desire must come in line with reality and end this war, which we hope very much that it can end before the end of the year, or end in the spring. There are hopes, and we will not stop trying to sort things out," said Bidzina Ivanishvili.
